Be a Vessel
In the sermon, Pastor Jeff reminded us that the problem in today’s church is not the absence of oil, but the addition of other stuff that gets in the oil. The oil represents the Holy Spirit, the anointing of God, and the power of God’s spirit. The issue is not the lack of oil, but the lack of vessels to hold the oil. God has not run out of resources, power, or miracles. The question is whether God can find a vessel he can trust to put his oil in. The prophet tells the widow to go borrow vessels from everywhere, from all her neighbors. The prophet is saying that he needs vessels to put his oil in. The problem is not God, but whether God can find a vessel that he can trust to put his oil in.
